To kick off this project, I took a vote on design as you can see. The general consensus was the left side design, so that is the one we proceeded with!
We always suggest sealing your wood products with our UC Countertop Epoxy to reduce air bubbles and gases put off by the slab once you pour the epoxy. As you can see, our UC Countertop Epoxy does a great job in this application.
WHAT DID OUR FORM LOOK LIKE?
MDF Board, caulk all the edges and cracks, and lay down some TYVEK tape to ease out the final product. Always clamp down your wood pieces so that your wood slabs do not float once your epoxy is poured in.

Wait 24 hours, sand lightly with 220 grit & clean thoroughly. After this, you can proceed with the next pour level as shown here.
Once the project was filled with the 2 layers of color, we did a 3rd layer of clear, which flowed over the top of the wood pieces. Once it was cured (full 24 hours after the final pour), we took the project out of the form, we started at 80 grit and sanded until flat and all blemishes removed. We sanded from 80 to 320 for this project. Once flat, we double check it is level before pouring the flood coat.
